Midtown NYC (preferred) About the Role A leading global financial services firm is seeking experienced Core Java developers to join its Order Management and Connectivity technology teams. These groups are responsible for building and modernizing the systems that underpin electronic trading, including market access, client onboarding, and connectivity to exchanges and liquidity venues. We are hiring for multiple positions, with opportunities for both hands-on engineers and hands-on leads who can guide distributed teams in a player-coach capacity. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance low-latency, high-throughput trading applications across order and connectivity platforms. Partner with trading, quantitative, and operations teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions. Modernize existing platforms while contributing to new feature development and providing production support. Collaborate with global colleagues, offering technical expertise and, for lead roles, mentoring junior developers. Optimize systems to meet strict latency and throughput requirements. Participate in the full SDLCfrom requirements gathering and architecture through deployment and support.

Required Skills & Experience

Deep expertise in Core Java (Java 8 or above) with a focus on low-latency, high-performance systems. Strong understanding of concurrency and multi-threaded programming. Familiarity with FIX protocol and/or other exchange/market protocols. Proven experience in electronic trading across equities, FX, or other asset classes. Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking in trading environments. Strong communication skills, including experience in client-facing settings. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global trading environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with legacy system support and modernization. Exposure to middleware technologies (e.g., TIBCO, Solace) is a plus. Prior experience leading small, distributed teams while remaining hands-on. Background working with ultra-low latency trading systems (millisecond or sub-millisecond). Hybrid schedule: Midtown NYC at least 2 days onsite weekly. Interview process typically includes 34 rounds focused on Core Java and low-latency design. Successful candidates generally bring 3+ years of relevant experience in trading systems.
