With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent has immediate openings for a Design, R&D, Manufacturing & Automation Engineering Summer Internships for Summer 2026!

Design Engineer Internship

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustain the production of existing designs

Create designs and drawings based on engineering specifications and customer requirements

Write/Review/Edit test plans and engineering reports in support of new and existing programs

Assist in qualification test programs

Assist manufacturing and the test lab with creating tooling designs for new and existing designs

Troubleshoot processes and tooling to resolve manufacturing and test issues

Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.

Interact with internal customers as an engineering representative

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering curriculum

Mechanical aptitude displayed through work experience or personal hobbies/projects

Experience with group work environments

Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Familiarity with machining and manufacturing methods and processes

Mechanical design experience

3D modeling and drawing creation with Creo (or equivalent software)

R&D Engineer Internship

Responsibilities:

Perform engineering analysis and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs

Mechanical design experience

Working knowledge of Creo

MathCAD familiarity

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Manufacturing Engineer Internship

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs

Assist manufacturing with tooling organization system

Troubleshoot processes and tooling to resolve manufacturing issues

Create designs and drawings based on engineering specifications or descriptions of customer requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

MS Office proficient

Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects or work experience

Experience with group work environments.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Automation Engineer Internship

Responsibilities

Support the Automation and Software Group with any required technical needs

Work within Microsoft Excel to perform data analysis and visualization

Document new or improved processes

Review standard work for completeness and ease of understanding

Coordinate with IT to ensure full communication and support for all ASG projects

Take lead on projects to see through to completion

Build an understanding of manufacturing processes

Research best practices and IIoT capabilities

Possibility to work hands-on with electronics, sensors, and robotics

Assist with analyzing current systems to identify gaps or possible improvements

Minimum Qualifications

U.S. Citizen

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

Microsoft Office proficiency

Good personal organizational skills to control productivity

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

CAD experience

Experience/working knowledge of manufacturing processes

Experience with SQL and writing queries

Knowledge of PLC ladder logic, Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, Python

Like to work hands-on breadboarding electronics

Interest in robotics and machine learning

Experience with data visualization tools
