Room Attendant - The Langham, Chicago
role at
Langham Hospitality Group Primary objective of the position: To provide housekeeping services to all guest rooms according to Langham standards and to deliver exceptional quality housekeeping services to enhance the guest experience by engaging with guests whenever one is visible. Responsibilities Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floor surfaces using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and cleaning agents. Strip and make beds; change bed linens as needed. Respond quickly and efficiently to guest requests. Make up rollaway beds and cribs in vacated rooms and notify housekeeping attendants to store them properly. Use and safeguard room keys; keep pass key or section master secure and return to Housekeeping Office or Security at end of shift; carry the room key on your person while on duty. Keep housekeeping storage areas and butler pantries neat and secure. Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves. Push and pull vacuum across the room and empty trash. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in the guest room. Follow chemical safety rules and procedures for needles and other hazardous materials. Ensure all collateral in the room looks brand new. Sign for room keys and restock supply bags; visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance and indicate completion. Respond promptly to guest requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, directions, or other information. Report suspicious persons, activities, or hazardous conditions to Security. Turn in items found in the employees working area to the hotel Lost and Found. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and assist colleagues as needed.
Physical Demands
Physical activities include kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, speaking, hearing, handling, reaching, and stretching. Ability to work independently within an established routine. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Repetitive motion of hands, wrists, shoulders, and back with bending and stooping.
Special Skills Required
Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms overhead to clean, and to work in confined spaces. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and guests. Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and thoroughly clean a minimum number of rooms as specified by management. Basic English comprehension to understand labels, instructions, and basic guest requests.
