Senior Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Architect OCI-First, AIML/Data Platform
Join the Oracle Health Team! At Oracle, we're pioneering a new chapter in healthcare technology with Oracle Health Applications & Infrastructure. Our team is creating a cutting-edge platform to modernize healthcare through automation and reliability. This is your chance to be part of an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where your contributions will directly impact our success. As a Senior Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Architect at Oracle Health, you will tackle exciting technical challenges and have the opportunity to influence the future of healthcare infrastructure. You'll work on key Oracle Health Core Platform products, focusing on building reliable, scalable, and secure systems in the cloud (OCI). You'll also set the technical bar for modern, efficient security-first architecture patternspartnering across the SDLC and our AIML and near-real-time data platform initiatives, including close collaboration with the Oracle Horizon data platform. What You'll Do: Own and Manage Services (at scale): Assume end-to-end accountability for the services and platforms under your scopedefining SLOs/error budgets, resilience patterns, and runbooks. Architect the Platform: Partner with app, data, Oracle Horizon, and ML teams to evolve service and platform architecture on OCI (networking, security, observability, cost). Drive reference designs and golden paths that other teams adopt. Ensure Operational Excellence: Lead deep performance analysis, DR testing, and security hardening. Raise the reliability bar through design reviews and release readiness. Champion Automation: Enforce Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD guardrails (Terraform, OKE/Kubernetes, OCI DevOps/GitHub/GitLab) and progressive delivery (blue/green, canary). Prevent Recurrence: Lead incident command for high-severity events, own RCAs/CAPAs, and convert learnings into systemic fixes. Be the Go-To Expert: Serve as the escalation and decision authority for complex, cross-domain issues spanning apps, Horizon data pipelines, ML workflows, and networks. Lead with Curiosity: Evaluate new OCI, Horizon, and AIML capabilities, proving value through PoCs and measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities (Senior Principal scope): Define and govern modern, efficient, security-first OCI reference architectures (VCN/DRG/LPG, FastConnect/VPN, LB/WAF, IAM/Policies, Vault/KMS, Service Connector Hub, Events/Notifications). Lead platform roadmaps for reliability, scalability, observability, and cost; establish reusable standards (modules/blueprints). Operate and evolve Kubernetes/OKE platforms; implement CI/CD with policy-as-code, artifact promotion, and automated verification/rollback. Establish SLIs/SLOs/error budgets; implement end-to-end observability (OCI Monitoring/Logging/Logging Analytics/APM, OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana). Drive cloud networking strategy (routing/BGP, NSGs/security lists, private endpoints, TLS, WAF/CDN), hybrid connectivity, and zero-trust segmentation. Oracle Horizon data platform: partner on ingestion, streaming, storage/compute tiers, governance, access policies, and serving interfaces; design reliability, security, and cost patterns for Horizon-integrated services. Architect and operate AIML platform capabilities (MLOps pipelines, feature store, model registry/serving, inference gateways, ML telemetry). Deliver near-real-time analytics paths (streaming/CDC ? transform ? serve) with data governance (lineage, schema/versioning, PII controls, encryption, auditability). Automate operations (patching, backups, DR drills, cert/secret rotation, capacity planning) and embed FinOps tagging and controls. Lead migrations and modernization to OCI (incl. Autonomous Database/ADW) across app and data platforms. Prepare and present CSSAP/corporate architecture review materials (threat model, controls, diagrams, test evidence) to executive stakeholders. Mentor senior/principal engineers; elevate docs, runbooks, and operational readiness across teams. What We're Looking For: Depth & Tenure: 1215+ years across SRE/DevOps/Platform/Software engineering operating large-scale, customer-facing systems; proven ownership of production reliability and architecture. Cloud Architecture (OCI-First): Architect-level expertise on OCI (or major hyperscaler) with Terraform, OKE/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Linux, and platform hardening. SDLC Strength: Strong software development and SDLC background (testing strategies, code reviews, versioning, deployment patterns); comfortable pairing with app teams. Cloud Networking: Hands-on mastery of routing/BGP, segmentation/zero-trust, NSGs/security lists, WAF/LB, TLS, DNS, and hybrid connectivity. AIML Platform (Required): Experience building/operating MLOps, feature stores, registries, model serving, and inference observability. Data & Near-Real-Time Analytics (Big Plus): Streaming (OCI Streaming/Kafka), CDC (GoldenGate/Debezium), Spark/OCI Data Flow, orchestration (Airflow/OCI Data Integration), lake/warehouse patterns. Oracle Horizon (Big Plus): Prior work integrating with or operating enterprise data platforms like Oracle Horizon (ingestion, governance, access policies, serving). Languages: Shell, Python, Java, Node.js/npm, plus familiarity with Oracle APEX (auth, APIs, packaging/deployment). Influence & Communication: Clear written/spoken communication, executive-ready architecture docs, and the ability to set cross-team standards. Qualifications: Expertise in Linux internals, performance tuning, and internet services (DNS, HTTP, TLS). Strong scripting and software skills (Shell, Python, Java, Node.js/npm); Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform (OCI provider preferred). Proficiency in monitoring/observability, instrumentation, log pipelines, and 247 on-call operations. Understanding of security and compliance (least privilege, encryption, auditability; CIS/NIST concepts) and FinOps cost controls. Demonstrated ability to define/document scalable architectures and produce CSSAP packages. Bonus: OCI Architect/DevOps Professional certifications; Oracle Autonomous Database/ADW, OCI Data Science, vector search; experience in regulated environments. First 90 Days: 30 Days Onboard & Access: Complete onboarding; gain access to environments, repos, CI/CD, and observability; ramp on active projects and platform topologies (apps, Horizon, AIML). 60 Days Own & Solution: Assume ownership of major initiatives; begin solutioning architecture with key stakeholders (including Horizon partners); validate security, networking, resilience, and cost trade-offs. 90 Days Deliver & Prepare Review: Deliver POCs for target architectures (functional/mocked as needed), including Horizon integrations; land initial IaC modules/guardrails; begin CSSAP artifacts and schedule review checkpoints. If you're a curious, driven engineer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, we'd love to have you on our team. Help us build the future of healthcare tech with Oracle Health!
