Position Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator with an engineering education to join our oil and gas estimating team. No prior Estimator experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates and professionals looking to grow their career in project estimation within the energy sector. The estimator will assist in preparing cost estimates for midstream oil and gas projects, including pipelines, facilities, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of detailed cost estimates for oil and gas projects based on engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis using estimating tools and Excel.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather data and validate assumptions.
Support bid preparation and proposal development for new projects.
Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit price libraries.
Participate in site visits and project reviews to gain field experience and improve estimate accuracy.
Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for completeness and competitiveness.
Help identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related discipline).
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Sage Estimating, or similar) is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Eagerness to learn and grow within the oil and gas industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in construction, oil & gas, or estimating. Coursework, internship, co-op or previous employment can be considered.
Basic understanding of project management and construction processes.
Exposure to industry codes and standards (API, ASME, etc.).
