We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Compliance team at Mercer. This innovative role is part of a hybrid work model that requires you to work at least three days a week in the office.
As a Portfolio Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in developing and managing our compliance program for portfolios and trading, particularly focusing on our North American business. You will support the design and implementation of controls and processes that ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory and portfolio guidelines.
This position provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with diverse functional teams within our organization, including Investment Management, Client Service, and Operations. You will gain valuable insights into global regulatory frameworks and will have the chance to build a strong network within the team and across the company. You will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer, Canada Investments, overseeing the US&C Investments Portfolio Compliance team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing monitoring systems to ensure effective pre-trade and post-trade controls.
Collaborating with system providers and vendors on rule creation, testing, and maintenance.
Monitoring portfolio guideline compliance and collaborating on issue resolution.
Conducting reporting and analysis to identify guideline breaches and manage resolution processes.
Participating in strategic projects, including process improvements and technology testing.
Contributing to trading best practices and governance related to best execution.
What you need to succeed:
A minimum of 6-8 years in the investment management industry, with a robust understanding of investment instruments.
Familiarity with investment regulations and portfolio monitoring tools.
An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or related fields is preferred.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a team player mindset, and project management capabilities.
The capacity to exercise sound independent judgment for problem resolution and escalation when necessary.
What sets you apart:
A CFA designation or active participation in the CFA program.
Experience on sell-side trade desks or collaboration with buy-side investment portfolio managers.
Proficiency in investment-related monitoring applications and familiarity with quantitative modeling, asset allocation, or overlay strategies.

All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to work onsite at least three days per week. The base salary for this role ranges from $91,400 to $183,000, depending on factors such as experience and credentials. This role may also be eligible for performance-based incentives. Our comprehensive compensation package includes health benefits, tuition assistance, 401K savings plans, and employee assistance programs.
