Senior Ground Software DevOps Engineer I
Based out of Rocket Lab’s office in Littleton, CO, the Senior Ground Software DevOps Engineer I is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our ground software build & deployment environment. You will be working on the ground software engineering team to plan out and implement a continuous integration system for a variety of space missions. ROCKET LAB OVERVIEW: Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more. The Space Systems team designs and builds spacecraft, payloads, and components, and supports missions for NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force. Our work enables ambitious space missions across science, Earth observation, and defense initiatives. WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: Work with the ground software team to design, develop and improve our devops engineering. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate continuous build and testing into a broader CI/CT/CD framework. Work closely with software developers, operations personnel, and systems engineers to understand deployment requirements and functional needs. YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree 5+ years of experience in software development, specializing in devops Strong experience with Linux Strong experience with Kubernetes Strong experience with Docker Strong experience writing Python or another programming language (Go and/or Rust) Experience working with large distributed web applications Experience with Helm Experience with Git THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Experience with ArgoCD Experience writing GitLab pipelines Experience with Jira Experience with Bazel or Pants Experience with Playwright Experience with a code quality tool like SonarQube ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing Must be physically able to commute to buildings Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Base salary is only one part of Rocket Lab’s compensation package for this role.
