Overview
Scrum Master (contract) role at Northern Trust. This is a mission-critical project involving the migration of multiple product delivery teams Agile backlog and story delivery from ServiceNow to Azure DevOps while maintaining a sync back to ServiceNow. The move to Azure DevOps should fit into the overall delivery model with the rest of the company and enable scale into compliance-driven efforts, including pipeline delivery and code repositories. Contractors Role: The Scrum Master will facilitate planning, tracking, communication, and coordination for an Agile project delivery team. This role requires solid practical experience and techniques in both Agile and project management. As a Scrum Master, the role includes collaborating with team members across Business and Technology disciplines, providing mentoring and coaching on Agile principles and practices. The Scrum Master will help resolve blocking challenges and communicate progress to external stakeholders. Experience Level: Mid Senior Qualifications (must haves): Must have experience in Azure DevOps. Agile Facilitation: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews; coach team members on Agile principles and Scrum practices; foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Delivery Management: Manage sprint execution and backlog grooming in Azure DevOps; track and report team velocity, burndown charts, and delivery metrics; remove impediments and escalate issues to ensure sprint goals are met. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Developers to ensure clear understanding of requirements; communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership. ServiceNow Focus: Support delivery of ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM); coordinate with platform teams to align on release schedules and technical dependencies; ensure compliance with ServiceNow development standards and governance. Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required. Greater than 6 years experience. Intermediate to advanced understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.). Experience with rapid, iterative software delivery (development, testing, deployment). Understanding of the software development life cycle including planning, requirements management, development, QA, change management, and release management. Exposure to continuous integration, test-driven development, and test automation. Experience with Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (JIRA, Rally, VersionOne). Pay and Benefits
