Transportation Specialist

Under direction, assists in the planning and coordination of regular and special school pupil transportation; performs related duties as required.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Transportation Specialist will report to the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services. This position is responsible for maintaining contracts for the district's pupil transportation program.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
Training and Experience Evaluation – Pass/Fail

Applicants passing the Evaluation will be notified after the recruitment closing date.
For those passing the Evaluation:
General Fitness Exam – Date: TBD
The exam will be an online multiple-choice assessment of fundamental knowledge for the position.
Applicants passing the exam will proceed to the Structured Oral Interview scheduled on a TBD date.
The interview assesses technical knowledge, experience, and general fitness for the role.
A total weighted score will determine ranking. Applicants must pass the oral interview to be eligible for placement on the list. The top 3 scores on the list are eligible for interviews for vacancies within the list's validity period.
Responsibilities include monitoring contractor performance, establishing and adjusting bus routes, analyzing billing charges, liaising with stakeholders, approving schedules, preparing data for negotiations, coordinating transportation for events, managing fee-based programs, researching regulations, resolving conflicts, conducting organizational studies, and preparing reports. Other duties may be assigned.
Experience:
Experience in a public school setting with complex duties, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Experience in pupil transportation and school administrative roles is desirable. Education:
Candidates with the stated experience, knowledge, and abilities are deemed to meet educational requirements. Knowledge of:
School transportation practices, scheduling, policies, laws, and regulations. Ability to:
Plan bus schedules, analyze operational costs, interpret maps, ensure safety compliance, operate computers proficiently, establish cooperative relationships, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
