Veterinary Assistant Position
North Idaho Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our practice in Sandpoint, Idaho. We are a six-doctor practice that is AAHA and Fear Free certified. This is an entry-level position focusing on providing foundational support for someone to begin their career in the veterinary industry. Full-time position with a complete benefit package and competitive wages available. The average work week will be 35-40 hours with rotating weekends. Applicants need to be cheerful, friendly, professional, dependable, have a strong work ethic, proactive, and enjoy being busy and multitasking. Proficiency in the following is required: computer skills, communication, and being a motivated fun team member. We are looking for someone who will benefit from our training and knowledge and contribute to our unique culture. Typical Duties: Animal Care: Assisting with basic animal care tasks like feeding, watering, cleaning, and observing animals for any signs of illness or injury. Restraint and Handling: Safely and effectively restraining animals for examinations, treatments, and procedures. Laboratory Procedures: Assisting with basic laboratory tasks, such as collecting samples and preparing them for testing. Client Interaction: Assisting clients with pet transportation in and out of the hospital. Maintaining a Clean Environment: Ensuring the cleanliness and sterilization of surgical instruments, laundry, cages, and the overall clinic upkeep. Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians: Providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
