Our Identity Team plays a critical role in securing access to our members, and we're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the way. As a Principal Software Engineer on the Identity Team, you will lead backend development efforts for authentication and authorization platforms that support HealthEquity's Classic and V5 portals, as well as our mobile applications. You'll drive innovation in secure access technologies and help shape the future of identity at HealthEquity. Job Duties and Responsibilities Lead the design and development of scalable, secure identity services for authentication and authorization. Drive initiatives around passwordless authentication, multi-factor authentication (MFA), passkeys, and secure access to healthcare services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain robust identity platforms that support application and microservices security. Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and reliability across backend systems. Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions that align with long-term security and scalability goals. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Proven experience building and maintaining secure identity solutions in production environments. Deep expertise in .NET, C#, and Microsoft technologies. Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and microservices architecture. Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or similar. Demonstrated passion for authentication, authorization, and security best practices. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in remote team environments. Experience leading engineering teams or technical initiatives in identity and access management (IAM). Familiarity with modern identity standards and protocols (e.g., OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML). Prior work in healthcare or regulated industries is a plus. This is a remote position. Salary Range $137,500.00 To $200,200.00 / year.
