HII Mission Technologies is seeking an Engineer Software 2 to support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) Joint Staff J7(JS J-7) contract at our Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex. This position may be open to hybrid/remote work, however the individual will need to be local in the Hampton Roads area to come onsite as needed/required to the Joint Staff Complex in Suffolk, VA. Mission Technologies accelerates a breadth of national security solutions for government and commercial customers, with capabilities ranging from C5ISR, AI and Big Data, cyber operations and synthetic training environments to fleet sustainment, environmental remediation and the largest family of unmanned underwater vehicles. Responsibilities Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Develop well-written code using provided coding standards. Testing software using a Test Procedure or Requirements document and documenting/correcting any errors found. Documents cold starts and develops software for new and revised virtual environment courses.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with a Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience. Must have an active Secret security clearance. Understanding of software development lifecycle. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both in a team and individually. Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail. Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction.

Preferred Requirements

Working knowledge of C++/C# in a Visual Studio environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products is a plus.
