Overview
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an Engineer Software 2 to support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) Joint Staff J7(JS J-7) contract at our Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex. This position may be open to hybrid/remote work, however the individual will need to be local in the Hampton Roads area to come onsite as needed/required to the Joint Staff Complex in Suffolk, VA. Mission Technologies Global Security group comprises live, virtual, constructive (LVC) solutions; fleet sustainment; nuclear and environmental; and Australia business. Responsibilities Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Develop well-written code using provided coding standards. Testing software using a Test Procedure or Requirements document and documenting/correcting any errors found. Documents cold starts and develops software for new and revised virtual environment courses.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years relevant experience with a Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience. Must have an active Secret security clearance. Understanding of software development lifecycle. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both in a team and individually. Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail. Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction.
Preferred Requirements
Working knowledge of C++/C# in a Visual Studio environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products is a plus.
