We're looking for a

Senior Data Scientist

to own and evolve our most critical internal decision support models that drive strategic business decisions at the executive level. You'll be the dedicated data science expert responsible for maintaining and iterating on our core predictive models, while developing new modeling capabilities that will scale with our growing organization. This is a high-visibility, business-critical role where your work will directly support financial projections and future growth strategies. You'll operate as the sole dedicated data scientist initially, working closely with business analysts, marketing teams, and cross-functional partners to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights. As our first dedicated modeling expert, you'll have the unique opportunity to set best practices, influence strategic decisions, and build the foundation for our expanding data science capabilities during an exciting growth period at Babylist. Who You Are

You have 5+ years of experience in data science or a related field, with a proven track record of developing and deploying models that drive business impact You have hands-on experience building and maintaining decision-support models such as customer lifetime value, conversion prediction models, and retention forecasting that have influenced real business decisions You are able to break down complex technical concepts into simple, actionable insights for executives and non-technical partners to enable confident decision-making You have a strong track record of prioritizing projects based on business impact with clear communication of tradeoffs, outcomes, and value to leadership You are highly skilled in SQL, comfortable working across large-scale datasets, writing complex queries, and uncovering insights that drive strategy You have programming expertise in Python or R with experience in statistical modeling, data manipulation, and advanced analytics You have experience with orchestration and deployment tools like Airflow to deliver reliable, production-ready models that scale You have a background in dynamic pricing and promotion modeling, applying advanced methods to optimize strategy and outcomes You have developed decision-support models that inform internal business strategy and operations rather than solely external-facing product features You are adept at spotting high-impact modeling opportunities, securing stakeholder buy-in, and delivering solutions end-to-end that drive measurable value You are flexible and curious, contributing beyond model development to the broader analytics landscape You are confident working independently while managing strong cross-functional relationships across multiple teams How You Will Make An Impact

You’ll own the paid conversion model, stabilizing and improving its accuracy and performance to better predict which signups become paying customers You’ll lead the deployment of LTV V1 into production, ensuring reliability and scalability You’ll establish and champion modeling best practices across the organization to raise the standard of data science You’ll build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and demonstrate measurable business impact You will drive the development of new modeling initiatives, including the evolution of the LTV model and other decision-support tools You’ll shape business strategy by delivering actionable, data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership You’ll scale modeling capabilities as the organization grows, including mentoring and developing future team members You’ll partner with leadership on ambitious growth projections and strategic planning efforts You’ll lay the foundation for expanded data science capabilities across a wide range of business functions Why You Will Love Working At Babylist

starting salary range

for this role is

CAD $15,500.00 to $188,000.00 , representing the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this position. Your starting salary within this range will be determined based on your skills, experience, and work location, with future adjustments informed by role growth, performance, and internal pay equity.
