BASIC FUNCTION The Senior Project & Marketing Manager is responsible for coordinating the intake, planning, scheduling, and execution of marketing and communications initiatives that support Vermont State University’s (VTSU) enrollment, brand, and strategic goals. This role combines complex campaign and project management with operational oversight of project management systems, workflows, and resourcing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and skilled at balancing multiple priorities while partnering closely with creative and marketing colleagues to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and on strategy. The description includes accommodations for the known disability of an otherwise qualified applicant. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project Intake & Planning Serve as primary point of intake for new marketing and communications requests. Assess requests for clarity, completeness, and strategic alignment. Partner with requestors to review creative briefs or help develop briefs that define goals, deliverables, and measures of success. Translate intake into actionable project plans, schedules, and resourcing needs. Project & Resource Management Build and maintain comprehensive project schedules across campaigns and initiatives. Facilitate weekly status meetings, providing updates on priorities, deadlines, and capacity. Manage and optimize use of the project management system to track progress, deliverables, and reporting. Monitor workloads, assign resources appropriately, and flag capacity constraints to leadership. Proactively identify risks, resolve bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements. Campaign & Creative Execution Collaborate with creative, marketing, and communications teams to ensure campaigns are executed effectively across digital, social, web, print, and other channels. Maintain project documentation, budgets, and timelines from initiation through completion. Support the development of campaign briefs, creative assets, and messaging aligned with VTSU’s brand and enrollment priorities. Monitor campaign performance and prepare reports on outcomes and improvements. Collaboration & Vendor Management Act as a connector between internal teams and external vendors to ensure quality, timeliness, and alignment with goals. Represent the enrollment marketing and communications team at planning meetings and cross-campus initiatives. Build and maintain strong working relationships with VTSU students, faculty, and staff to support transparency and collaboration. Systems & Continuous Improvement Research, develop, and implement systems, tools, and workflows to improve project efficiency and team impact. Contribute to market research and data-driven practices that inform decision making. Perform other related duties as assigned. Reporting

Direct supervision received from Creative Director. Supervisory responsibility: None. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in project management, marketing, communications, or related field OR 5+ years of experience managing complex marketing projects. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to timelines, budgets, and outcomes. Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills. Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with creative teams and external vendors. Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with higher education or mission-driven organizations. Experience with digital marketing platforms and analytics tools. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or similar creative software. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Expertise in project intake, scoping, and scheduling. Ability to balance strategic goals with day-to-day operational needs. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate collaboration across diverse stakeholders. Proactive problem-solving, resource management, and workflow optimization. Location : This position is remote, but willingness to travel to all campuses as needed. Compensation : The budgeted compensation for this position is $68,000-$74,000. Benefits
