3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Purpose: The primary purpose of the job is to direct the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. Responsibilities and Duties
Direct the facility's day-to-day operations and programs in accordance with applicable regulations. Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the facility. Review job descriptions with Human Resources for each staff position in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, OSHA, and other pertinent laws. Assist Human Resources in the development and implementation of performance evaluations. Lead department directors in the development and use of departmental policies and procedures; promote teamwork across departments. Review and update the facility\'s policies and procedures periodically to ensure compliance with current regulations (e.g., ADA, ergonomics, air quality). Interpret the facility\'s policies and procedures to employees, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies as necessary. Ensure accurate and descriptive public information about the facility\'s services. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures by all staff, residents, visitors, and the public. Represent the facility at top-level meetings and in dealings with outside agencies and third party payers. Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the governing board regarding facility operation. Assist Infection Control activities and participate in routine surveillance and reporting as needed. Conduct weekly inspections to ensure policy implementation and compliance; participate in facility surveys and develop corrective plans when deficiencies are found. Maintain liaison with families and residents and uphold a strong public relations program. Delegate authority when absent and ensure appropriate background checks and Nurse Aide Registry reporting. Committee Functions
Serve on facility committees (e.g., Infection Control, Safety) and provide reports to the governing board. Assist CQI in developing action plans to correct quality deficiencies and evaluate committee recommendations. Personnel Functions
Assist in recruiting and selecting department directors, supervisors, consultants, and other staff. Verify employee documentation and ensure proper filing in personnel records. Delegate authority to staff as needed and consult with department directors on operations to improve services. Ensure adequate trained personnel are on duty to meet resident needs; standardize work methods; review workforce competence and take corrective action as needed. Counsel/discipline personnel as necessary; administer disciplinary action fairly. Terminate employment when necessary and coordinate with Human Resources. Schedule and participate in departmental meetings; serve as liaison to the governing board and medical staff. Maintain positive relationships with the medical community and other health-related facilities/regulatory bodies. Staff Development
Assist in planning and delivering in-service training and orientation programs; ensure ongoing professional development. Meet with department directors regularly for supervisory training and participation in workshops or seminars. Ensure participation in OSHA and CDC in-service training for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens. Foster a warm, positive, and calm facility environment. Safety, Sanitation, and Facilities
Enforce safety regulations for fire protection, infection control, and general facility safety. Maintain building and grounds in good repair; review accident/incident reports and implement prevention programs. Ensure proper handling of hazardous chemicals, PPE use, and disposal of infectious wastes; support waste disposal policies. Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary premises and ensure appropriate safety precautions are followed in all tasks. Equipment, Supplies, Budget, and Planning
Authorize major equipment and supply purchases within policy; ensure adequate supplies for daily operations. Prepare and monitor annual operating budget; assist in maintaining an accounting system and interpreting monthly financial statements for the governing board. Ensure compliant financial records and cost reports for government agencies; monitor economic conditions to sustain quality care. Resident Rights and Miscellaneous
Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold rights to fair treatment, privacy, self-determination, and civil rights. Review resident complaints and grievances; document actions and communicate with residents and families as appropriate. Support Resident/Group Councils and ensure timely notices for discharges or room changes. Manage resident funds per federal and state regulations with proper accounting. Ensure each resident receives appropriate nursing, medical, and psychosocial services per care plans. Participate in PASARR planning as necessary and collaborate on care quality and safety. Working Conditions
Work in office and throughout the facility; may work beyond normal hours, including weekends/holidays; subject to interruptions and emergencies. Interact with residents, families, staff, and regulators; potential exposure to infectious agents and hazardous chemicals. Maintain liaison with residents and families to meet ongoing needs; participate in continuing education. Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Public Health Administration, Business Administration, or a health-related field preferred but not required. Experience
Minimum supervisory experience in a hospital or long-term care facility (exact years to be specified by employer). Must possess current, unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator license or meet state licensure requirements. Specific Requirements
