Overview

Executive Director, Applications role at UCSF Health. This position serves as the chief application officer for UCSF Health, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the clinical and revenue cycle aspects of the electronic health record and associated information systems across UCSF Health and its affiliates. The role also oversees enterprise-wide imaging and virtual care strategies with the related analyst teams, participates in strategic planning with clinical and operational leaders, and oversees a portfolio of major, complex, high-risk projects. The incumbent represents the health system in systemwide, state, and national meetings and other forums, and ensures health care delivery applications align with organizational goals and mission. Key Functions

Oversight of Health Care Delivery Applications, including new implementations and roadmap development Epic application management Oversight of overall application business continuity and downtime preparedness EHR interoperability Team development and engagement Partnership with Architecture and Solutions teams Budgetary development and management, including capital and operating Technology leadership in Health IT Governance Executive stakeholder engagement Standardizing tools and processes This role will oversee an application staff of approximately 180 professionals. Direct reports include the Sr. Director for Clinical Systems, Director of Business Systems, Director of Enterprise Imaging and the Director of Virtual Care and Telehealth. The position may include serving as the IT Leader/Advisor on the Senior Leadership Council for the Ambulatory and Children’s Business Units and representing the Health CIO in various capacities. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience with clinical and revenue cycle applications concepts, policies, and practices, including planning, programming, development, deployment, testing, program integration, and user training and support methodologies. 5+ years in developing and implementing long and short-range strategic plans, evaluating staff competencies, organizing operations, and fiscal management. Experience managing large technology projects in multiple healthcare settings with concurrent implementations. 10+ years in a senior leadership position with proven ability to lead cross-departmental teams and achieve objectives. Advanced analytical and critical-thinking skills with ability to synthesize data, identify system vulnerabilities, and drive operational execution blending clinical technology with business needs. Ability to collaborate with senior management to develop and evaluate strategic goals and objectives; strong written and verbal communication skills with capacity to convey information to diverse stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of healthcare information technology, clinical workflows, and interdependencies across departments and external partners. Ability to negotiate multi-year contracts and manage vendor relationships. Ability to work across multiple locations and travel as needed. Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience/training. Preferred Qualifications
