This is a rare opportunity to build and lead the Commercial Finance function for a newly created sub-business unit. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance for the business unit, you will shape financial strategy, drive performance, and lead the transformation of finance processes. You will combine leadership, commercial insight, and the opportunity to influence a high-growth, high-visibility part of the organisation. Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership & Team Building: Evolve and grow a high-performing commercial finance team. Mentor and inspire finance talent to support both operational excellence and strategic thinking. Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Lead the development and delivery of the Enterprise BU’s strategic and operational financial planning. Design and manage robust planning and forecasting cycles that align with corporate objectives. Collaborate with business leaders to model scenarios, assess financial impacts, and align resources with growth initiatives. Commercial & Strategic Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, influencing key decisions with data-driven insights. Drive rigorous commercial analysis on pricing, margin, and profitability across customer segments. Embed financial accountability and performance tracking into operational decision-making. Investment Management: Evaluate and manage business case development for strategic investments, including new product launches, market expansion, and technology initiatives. Oversee capital allocation and monitor ROI. Provide post-investment reviews to maximise long-term value. Planning, Forecasting & Performance: Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. Deliver clear, actionable reporting and insights that link financial outcomes to strategic goals. Finance Process Transformation: Design and implement scalable, efficient finance processes from the ground up. Leverage automation and digital tools to improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making. Governance & Risk Management: Ensure financial control, compliance, and alignment with group standards and regulatory frameworks. Qualifications
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Proven senior finance leadership experience in a commercial, fast-paced environment Demonstrated success in strategic planning, forecasting, and investment appraisal Strong track record of building and developing high-performing teams Skilled at translating complex financial data into strategic business insight Experience leading finance process improvement and digital transformation Background in enterprise technology, B2B services, or a similar sector is a plus Compensation & Benefits
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including skill set, level of experience, and location. The pay range for this position is: The minimum full-time salary range is between $170,000 - $200,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
