Platform Recruitment
Overview
Senior Firmware Engineer – NAND/DRAM – California
| On-site | Full-time | $160K–$210K DOE We are partnering with a leading innovator in
semiconductor storage technology , developing advanced SSD controllers and embedded firmware solutions that power next-generation storage products for consumer, enterprise, and data center applications. Role
We are seeking a
Senior Firmware Engineer
to focus on
NAND management, DRAM bring-up, and SSD boot flows . This role will involve developing, validating, and optimizing firmware at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring storage products achieve maximum performance, reliability, and scalability. Responsibilities
Maintain NAND flash operation flows across multiple channels, dies, and planes. Implement bad block management, read-retry, and error recovery mechanisms to protect data integrity. Analyze and mitigate NAND-specific issues (read/program disturb, retention loss, endurance degradation). Optimize NAND parallelism to maximize throughput and minimize latency. Perform DRAM bring-up, including memory controller setup, timing configuration, and power-on sequencing. Verify DRAM read/write correctness under stress and functional testing. Maintain SSD boot-up flows, including firmware loading and system initialization. Develop firmware for peripherals (temperature sensors, power monitors, GPIO-based controls). Capture and analyze NAND waveforms, debug DRAM initialization, and provide root cause analysis. Deliver firmware fixes to ensure stable and reliable system operation. Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 3+ years of experience in firmware or embedded systems development. Background in
SSD controller/firmware architecture . Proficiency in
C/C++ programming
and data structures. Strong debugging skills with
JTAG/ICE, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers . Experience with
Git
or other version control systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team environment. Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with
SATA/PCIe (NVMe) protocols . Understanding of
NAND flash protocols . Fluency in Mandarin (reading/writing) a plus. Compensation
Comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, retirement matching, RSUs, and performance bonuses. Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to join a forward-looking team at the heart of the
semiconductor storage industry . You will be tackling complex challenges in NAND, DRAM, and embedded firmware, with direct influence on the performance and reliability of cutting-edge SSD products. Your work will shape the technology powering tomorrow’s storage systems.
