Overview A Director, Business Process Innovation serves as the accountable Product Owner for a Claims delivery team, driving the product vision, roadmap, and value realization for cross-functional capabilities while leading enterprise special projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and staffing assessments. Partnering closely with business leaders, this role translates strategy into a prioritized backlog with clear, testable outcomes; orchestrates change across operations and technology; and ensures that shipped capabilities are adopted and generate measurable business results. This role is eligible to participate in Zenith’s hybrid work schedule, which provides flexibility to work from home on select days according to the in-office cadence established by regional executive leadership. The selected candidate (external) must be able to report to the Woodland Hills, CA office on a weekly basis.

What You Will Do
Own the product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for your delivery team; align objectives with senior business leaders and translate strategy into a sequenced backlog that delivers the right outcomes at the right time.
Lead backlog management and grooming; author and refine user stories with unambiguous, testable acceptance criteria; manage cross-team dependencies; and maintain a transparent view of scope, risks, and trade-offs.
Serve as the production-readiness authority for your portfolio; validate solution design against business needs; approve stories/SCRs for release; and ensure quality and change controls are met.
Drive adoption and value realization after launch by defining success metrics, monitoring utilization and performance, and partnering with business owners to course-correct where needed to achieve target outcomes.
Lead enterprise special projects that improve process, increase operational efficiency, and inform staffing models; scope opportunities, conduct current-state assessments, design future-state processes, and deliver implementation and change-management plans.
Partner closely with IT to identify and prioritize system enhancements and platform upgrades; coordinate with design, engineering, QA, and vendor partners/contractors to ensure on-time, on-quality delivery.
Facilitate discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and focus groups; synthesize insights into actionable product requirements and operating recommendations.
Build business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and performance measurement frameworks; report progress and outcomes to executive stakeholders.
Over time, recruit, develop, and manage a small team (e.g., Product Managers/Owners, Business Analysts) to expand capacity and deepen domain ownership.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma Or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training/experience required
Skills and Abilities
Experience in leading process implementation or process design and improvement projects required.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to understand the big picture of a business situation and how to identify and resolve key issues.
Experience meeting with users, stakeholders and management in activities such as analyzing workflows and developing business requirements.
Committed, energetic and collaborative.
Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities, as well as analytical, problem-solving and customer interaction skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Must possess technology proficiency and a willingness to learn new applications.
Experience with Microsoft Office and applications required.
Experience in insurance environment preferred.
Some travel will be required.
Compensation and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $145,610.78 - $182,013.48. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
