Overview

Director of Research and Analytics - Department of Biomedical Informatics and GRC, Health Services and Population Health (Associate/Full Professor). The Director leads a large team with thirty staff under direct supervision and manages a portfolio of 15 state and federal research grants, with twenty-five principal investigators who look to the Director for mentorship. The role requires an accomplished senior academic researcher with strong experience engaging with state health and human services agencies and executive-level performance in mentoring and leading multiple research agendas. Responsibilities

Initiate and guide research that aligns with the GRC’s strategic goals and engages state government leaders to identify policy needs suitable for state university partnerships. Foster investigator-initiated research and ensure high-quality, policy-relevant research that complies with federal/state regulations, ethical standards, and institutional policies. Strategize and execute research dissemination through publications, reports, and presentations to policymakers and stakeholders. Maintain scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications, involvement in national professional activities, and expanding the GRC’s network of collaborators. Engage with academic partners in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) to promote collaborative research between the GRC and DBMI. Develop research leaders within the GRC and DBMI through mentorship and leadership. Function as an executive: set strategy, build infrastructure, secure finances, and foster an excellent organizational culture. Improve organizational effectiveness by refining research processes, integrating projects, enhancing communications, and supporting professional development. Build relationships with state health agencies and other research partners to enhance the GRC’s reputation as a thought leader. Collaborate with GRC Director and senior leadership to align research priorities with organizational goals and policy needs. Represent the GRC in external forums, advisory groups, and research collaborations at state and national levels. Collaborate with the DBMI Chair to identify shared areas of research innovation between the GRC and DBMI. Direct one DBMI graduate-level course per year in a topic determined by discussion with the DBMI Chair. Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent) in public health, health services research, health administration, policy analysis, or a related field 10 years of experience in research leadership within academic, government, or related nonprofit sectors, with experience designing and implementing large-scale health services research projects Experience collaborating with state Medicaid agencies, public health departments, or mental health agencies Experience providing analytic support involving claims data and using advanced statistical and mathematical methods to direct complex, high-volume data set initiatives Demonstrated leadership and management of research teams Preferred Qualifications

15 years of experience in research leadership within academic, government or related nonprofit sectors Proven ability to grow and manage multi-million-dollar research portfolios Prior public service experience such as leadership roles in governmental agencies Experience collaborating with state Medicaid agencies, public health departments, or mental health agencies Strong record of organizational effectiveness, leadership and development Teaching experience in graduate-level courses Department/Division Overview

The GRC is a public university-based center for applied health policy research and technical assistance, focusing on partnerships with the Ohio Department of Medicaid and other state health and human service agencies.
