Overview

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Operations Optimization and Sustainment team. This hybrid role focuses on improving business systems and processes through technical innovation, collaboration, and leadership. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to design scalable solutions, lead DevOps practices, and contribute to the architecture of analytics platforms and cloud-hosted applications. A highly collaborative role requiring strong communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into operational tools that are statistically grounded. This is a hybrid role; candidates must reside within driving distance of a major Collins facility. Responsibilities

Design, build, and scale analytics platforms and applications (e.g., custom web applications using Python/Flask/Linux and JavaScript/D3). Develop operator assist tools (Python) and data platform engineering (Python/Airflow/MySQL/Linux). Work on IoT machine analytics (Kepware/Ignition). Lead and manage DevOps processes (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Jenkins CI/CD, GitHub, JIRA). Oversee cloud-hosted application deployments and maintenance; ensure compliance and security aligned with regulatory standards (T1/T3). Provide technical leadership and mentorship across software initiatives; review production-bound code via pull requests (Git/GitHub). Contribute to agile development cycles and architectural design; build robust testing frameworks for deployments. Analyze business requirements and deliver functional solutions; coordinate research and scope management across stakeholders. Navigate complex organizational structures to drive cross-functional results. Qualifications

Typically requires a university degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience. Must be a U.S. citizen. Experience with Python; experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Jenkins CI/CD, GitHub, JIRA. Basic cloud architecture experience; building and maintaining DevOps pipelines. Able to work well in a team environment with other developers. What You Will Learn

Scale analytics platforms in enterprise environments; advanced DevOps workflows and CI/CD automation. Cloud deployment strategies in AWS and Azure; IoT integration and machine analytics using Ignition and Kepware. Agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration; business systems architecture and regulatory compliance. Data engineering techniques using Airflow and SQL; effective communication and stakeholder management in large organizations. Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business. Experience with AWS or Azure cloud environments; familiarity with SAP systems. Agile/Scrum methodology experience; hands-on experience with Hadoop, Apache Spark, Databricks, Tableau (or equivalents). What We Offer
