Job Description Working alongside a wonderful team at The Peninsula Chicago, we are seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to join our Finance operations. Key Accountabilities To be responsible for an efficient and effective day-to-day work routine and to ensure a proper month-end closing with timely preparation of accurate financial statement and reports. To assume the duties and responsibilities of the Director of Finance during his temporary absence from the hotel. Perform timely reviews of direct report employees after discussing with Director of Finance. Audit the required items as identified in the Key Control checklist as updated by Head-Office to complete the list twice a year. Liaise with internal and external auditors to provide them with required documentations and backups. Create a conducive working environment within the Accounting department Provide direction, assistance and training to the accounting staff. Ensure all bank accounts and other Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled monthly. Investigate outstanding items, follow-up to clear them prior to next month-end. Prepare the State and City tax returns and ensure payment is process in a timely manner to take advantage of any discounts offered, cashflow permitting based on discussion with Director of Finance. Assists with yearly budget preparation. General Requirements Must have at least 4 years experience in a hotel guest-focused company Must have thorough knowledge in Accounting control and Financial Management process Extensive knowledge in Accounting System, Property Management System, Point of Sales, Microsoft required.
