ByteDance is seeking a Senior Manager of Indirect Tax to join our Tax Department and support our international digital and e-commerce expansion efforts. The Senior Manager will lead taxability determination for product launches, manage and support tax audits, controversies, and related projects. This role may involve managing and supporting daily tax operations and leading cross-functional projects to meet the requirements of business partners and the department. About The Team

The Tax Team at ByteDance helps ensure that our company and all our products are tax-compliant across regions and countries. The team supports internal requests and collaborates with multiple stakeholders to support product and business launches and new features. Responsibilities

Lead project work for new product and feature launches, conducting detailed taxability analysis to determine correct indirect tax treatment and provide business advisory. Collaborate with other Tax and Technology teams across regions to identify, create, and implement globally scalable processes and solutions. Monitor and communicate legislative and regulatory changes in indirect tax, assessing their impact on the business and its product offerings. Periodically review and document the company's tax positions on existing products and services to ensure ongoing accuracy and mitigate risk. Lead/support complex multi-state tax audits and issues, and develop and execute tax audit readiness programs. Support the indirect tax leader in overall risk management by identifying exposures and developing mitigation strategies. Develop indirect tax operational process improvements with a focus on controls, automation, efficiency, and analytics. Identify and document compliance process enhancements. Work closely with the tax compliance team to ensure data for accurate and timely filings is collected, structured, and available from business systems. Support and participate in other relevant projects and ad-hoc initiatives as assigned by the tax leadership team. Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s) Bachelor’s degree or higher in Taxation, Accounting or related field. At least 5 years of indirect state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, Government, and/or US multinational company with a focus on sales/use taxes. Strong technical knowledge in U.S. Indirect Tax, especially Sales and Use Tax. Ability to communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful to non-tax professionals. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment; able to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively, work independently, solve problems, and influence others. Experience working with other Tax and Technology teams across regions to implement globally scalable processes and solutions. Preferred Qualification(s) Relevant industry experience in handling U.S. Indirect Tax in technology and e-commerce companies is a plus. About Us

Compensation Information: The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $122,550 – $232,560 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and stock units. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, and paid time off.
