The Dodge YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Supervisor who will be responsible for maintaining safe conditions in and around the swim area. They will promote a safe and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA aquatics policies and procedures. The Aquatics Supervisor will lifeguard, provide swim instruction for different ages and ability levels, and motivate participants. They will also provide on-deck supervision during program times, assist the Aquatics Director with maintaining records, and ensure participants' and parents/guardians' concerns are addressed in a timely manner. The Aquatics Supervisor will model a professional demeanor (uniform and positive attitude) to other aquatics staff.

Salary Salary: $21.00 - $23.00 Hourly

Responsibilities

Provide lifeguard supervision and enforcement of aquatics safety rules.

Instruct participants according to YMCA aquatics program standards, using all five components, guided discovery, effective class organization, and a positive relationship with participants.

Maintain on-deck supervision during program times and assist with program planning, scheduling, and record-keeping.

Assist the Aquatics Director with maintaining records and addressing participant and parent/guardian concerns in a timely manner.

Model professional demeanor (uniform and positive attitude) to other aquatics staff.

Assist with equipment maintenance and ensure equipment is ready before classes and properly stored after.

Attend mandatory in-service training and maintain required certifications.

Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.

Support and assist with fundraising and program events as needed.

Follow the directions of the YMCA Aquatics Director in accordance with YMCA Aquatic standards.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum age – 18 years old.

Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.

Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification or equivalent.

Current CPRO, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications.

Demonstrate swim strokes, lifeguard rescues, and CPRO/FA/EO skills.

Maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness; recertification before expiration.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays; available to work Saturday through Wednesday with adjustments as needed based on operational needs.

Essential Functions

Must be Rescue Ready: uniform, pocket face mask/gloves, whistle, and rescue tube.

Continuous and active scanning of the pool.

Must be Instructor Ready: uniform, lesson plans, maintain records (attendance, progress tracking, end-of-session reports).

Instruct participants according to YMCA aquatics program standards and maintain positive relationships with participants and families.

Ensure instructional equipment remains in good condition and ready before classes.

Attend monthly in-service training.

Know and understand the Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Evacuation Routes.

Maintain positive relationships with class participants, parents/guardians, non-class members, and staff.

Assist with office duties and class scheduling as needed; cover Lifeguard and/or Instructor shifts when required.

Submit the mandatory Monthly Staff tracking and safety checklist to the Association Office.

Be punctual for all shifts.

Support fundraising and program events as directed.
