UNM Medical Group, Inc. (UNMMG) is seeking an On-Call Staff Physician in Anesthesiology in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The Department of Anesthesiology in the UNM School of Medicine is actively recruiting a physician for PRN/On-Call at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) to provide patient care. Successful candidates will join a group of experienced Anesthesiologists. Summary: Under indirect supervision, provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population. Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking a board certified Anesthesiologist for an on-call physician to teach and practice at UNM Hospital and UNM Outpatient Surgical and Imaging Services center (OSIS). Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine comprises 50 faculty anesthesiologists, 31 residents, 6 fellows, and 41 CRNA/CAAs covering 28 operating rooms, and 7 NORA locations, and perform 24,000+ anesthesia cases a year. Minimum Qualifications
Must hold unrestricted medical license Must hold M.D. or equivalent Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or within three years of residency and active in the certification process Responsibilities
Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications

The primary appointment would be in the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine, Main OR. Successful candidates will join a group of experienced Anesthesiologists. Albuquerque, New Mexico boasts 300+ sunny days per year and is a prime location for outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, skiing, and more. Albuquerque alone offers more than 400 miles of hiking trails. UNM Hospital is the only level 1 trauma center in New Mexico.
