Senior DevOps Engineer
Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX or Jersey City, NJ
Hybrid – onsite 2-3 days per week, WFH 2-3 days per week
Position Summary This role is open with a financial services company. This company is currently engaged in building out cutting-edge clearing, settlement, and risk systems. These systems will be natively running on public cloud and on an on-premises data center. To support migration of cloud-based solution to on-premises data center, the teams will be building a Kubernetes-based virtual environment. The work will be divided across core platform engineering and DevOps teams. We are looking for a DevOps lead that will help develop the necessary ecosystem (Jenkins-based CI/CD, Helm charts, Terraform, Ansible, monitoring, etc.) that will be required to migrate public cloud-native Risk Framework (there are over a dozen different products within Risk Framework) to an on-prem production environment.
Responsibilities
This person should be conversant with various cloud (specifically AWS) technologies to help us in developing equivalent services using cloud-neutral vendor products.
Should have proven experience in running a project with a small DevOps team.
Actively participates and leads requirement analysis and reviews to identify missing or incomplete requirements.
Follows agreed-upon SDLC procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meet both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external-facing reporting is properly represented.
Assists Production Support by providing advice on system functionality and fixes as required
Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management
Assists with departmental and new employee training
Requirements
8+ years of experience developing IT solutions
At least 3 years of DevOps/Site Reliability Engineering experience
Experience with Kubernetes/EKS
Familiarity with the following DevOps tools preferred: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle, Nexus/Artifactory and/or CI/CD pipeline
Experience with cloud technologies and migrations, preferably with AWS
Some understanding of/exposure to Java
Nice to have
Experience migrating cloud-based solutions to/from on-premises data centers
Previous experience with fintech development or financial services
Experience with AWS foundational services: VPCs, Security groups, EC2, RDS, S3 ACLs, KMS, AWS CLI, IAM, etc.
Experience with distributed message brokers: Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, etc.
Experience with high-speed distributed computing frameworks: AWS EMR, Hadoop, HDFS, S3, MapReduce, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Kafka Streams, etc.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or OCP Java SE 8 Programmer Certification is a plus
