Overview
Our client, a Hudson County, NJ, start up, is searching for a Senior Finance & Operations Manager to join their team. There are no direct reports in this role. Responsibilities
Generate/maintain financial reports and records (including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, budgets and expense reports). Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial audits. Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Data Entry and Reporting: Assist in maintaining GL, JEs and adjustments. Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports. Execution of month-end close process, ad-hoc reporting, and variance analysis responsibilities. Generate and distribute regular financial reports to stakeholders. Coordinate billing processes including invoices, payments, and receipts related to insurance premiums, commissions, and other financial transactions. Collaborate with underwriting and policy issuance teams to ensure accurate premium calculations and billing. Resolve billing discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and address inquiries regarding invoices. Monitor AR and AP and follow up on outstanding balances. Operational Support: Provide cross-functional support to finance, compliance and operations teams. Coordinate with licensing and compliance vendors and assist with broker and agent licensing processes; serve as primary point of contact for inquiries. Assist in preparation of documentation for audits (finance and compliance) and regulatory inspections. Qualifications
7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a similar role. US GAAP: Experience with the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles accounting and financial reporting. Experience with a full range of accounting responsibilities such as general ledger, financial transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, AR/AP, addressing invoice issues, billing discrepancies and outstanding balances. Financial analysis: Experience with month-end close processes, variance analysis, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, budgets, and expense reports. Audits: Experience conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Background in insurance: Experience in a finance or accounting role within an MGA, insurance broker, or insurance carrier, working with P&C (Property and casualty) insurance; coordinating billing processes for insurance premiums and commissions; experience assisting with broker and agent licensing processes and communicating with licensing and compliance vendors.
