Supports the Quality Assurance Improvement Program (QAPI) for the Department of Laboratory Medicine under the guidance of the Quality Program Manager. Represents the department on hospital Quality committees. Assesses quality of laboratory services and institutes programs to continuously improve them. Through contact with clinicians and staff, provides leading edge technology that is consistent with the needs of the patients and programs at Boston Children’s Hospital. Key Responsibilities

Supports the departmental QAPI Program with statistical data generation, analysis and project identification for process improvement. Develops indicators of service quality and monitors performance of the labs against these indicators. Developing and implementing tools to objectively assess service quality. Presenting results to various departmental and hospital committees. Managing departmental strategies for improved customer relations and staff satisfaction. Investigating and responding to complaints and incidents. Designing and monitoring programs to improve interactions between the labs and other internal customers, including clinicians. Interpreting and implementing regulatory changes. Coordinating departmental regulatory issues including CLIA reporting, preparation for Joint Commission, AABB, FDA and other inspections. Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and ensuring that standards are up to date and distributed to all labs. Reviewing potential adverse event investigations and responses. Leading root cause analysis sessions in collaboration with laboratory managers and supervisors. Serving as project manager for designated departmental quality improvement projects, programs and initiatives. Monitoring and communicating project status, identifying and resolving problems/issues and providing leadership for project teams/work groups to meet established goals, specifications and schedules. Performing a variety of special projects and additional work as needed/assigned. Contributing to teamwork within and between departments and organizations. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree 3 years’ experience in quality improvement Work experience preferably in a laboratory discipline Lean/Six Sigma training preferred Benefits
