Merchandise Store Manager

Reports to: Taproom Assistant General Manager Based in: Cincinnati, Ohio Position Type: Full Time Taproom Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; some weekend availability required

Position Overview The Merchandise Store Manager oversees all aspects of our retail and e-commerce merchandise operations, ensuring smooth daily store functions, accurate inventory control, exceptional customer service, and a visually appealing and well-organized store. This role involves leadership, staff management, inventory oversight, online store administration, and hands-on retail duties.
Responsibilities
Staff Management
Oversee daily operations of the merchandise team, ensuring adherence to protocols and procedures.
Recruit, hire, train, and onboard new merchandise staff.
Develop and manage staff schedules.
Establish and maintain visual merchandising guidelines.
Create and assign daily tasks for part-time associates.
Communicate updates on promotions, new products, and events.
Adjust staffing levels in real-time based on store traffic.
Merchandise & E-Commerce Inventory Control
Receive and manually count incoming orders in Shopify and Encompass.
Fold, bag, and label incoming apparel orders.
Restock merchandise in backstock and on the retail floor weekly.
Process product transfers within Encompass and Shopify (e.g., taproom, marketing, donation use).
Conduct monthly inventory counts in both Shopify and Encompass.
Fulfill and manage online orders daily.
Place orders for beer and merchandise items via Encompass Orders, Shopify, Put-away Bin, and Portal.
Online & Point-of-Sale Store Management
Create new products in Shopify, ensuring correct tags and product types.
Manage promotional codes and purchase orders.
Create barcode labels for merchandise.
Upload product photos and detailed descriptions.
Prepare items for warehouse sales.
Day-to-Day Store Operations
Order supplies from vendors (e.g., ULINE, Amazon, USPS).
Maintain daily store cleanliness and perform light maintenance.
Provide advanced problem-solving across store operations.
Create new hire accounts and store credit gift cards.
Conduct new hire merchandise counter tours.
Maintain store display visuals.
Sales & Customer Service
Occasionally work the merch booth, engaging customers and assisting with purchases.
Fulfill online orders, process returns/exchanges, and ensure excellent customer experiences.
Prepare and process up to all apparel items per month (folding, bagging, tagging).
Assist guests via phone, email, and webstore messaging.
Prepare all online orders daily.
Customer Service Leadership
Manage the merchandise email inbox.
Process returns, exchanges, local pickup expirations, and large orders.
Communicate with preorder customers and resolve issues.
Create discount codes for special customer service cases.
Cash & Retail Operations
Open and close cash registers, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
Resolve cash discrepancies as needed.
Event & Pop-Up Management
Coordinate and work merchandise pop-ups at events (e.g., UC, Findlay, Pride).
Pull and transport products to event locations.
Track inventory movement, restock, and reconcile after events.
Communicate with event teams to ensure setup (tables, products, rolling cage).
Beer Release & Marketing Coordination
Provide sales projections for new beer releases.
Coordinate with marketing to update the to-go beer menu.
Coordinate social media giveaways, including pulling items, adjusting inventory, and creating shipping labels.
Requirements
3 years of retail experience required, preferably in merchandise or beverage/alcohol industry.
1 year of management experience required.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Proficiency with Shopify and inventory management systems.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work events, weekends, and occasional evenings.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt quickly.
