What is the opportunity?
The Portfolio Advisory Group’s (PAG) mandate is to provide investment advice and guidance to our financial advisors across equity, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, and managed accounts. The team manages proprietary equity and multi-asset discretionary portfolios on a rapidly growing UMA platform and enables RBC Wealth Management Advisors to deliver investment solutions with competency and confidence in asset allocation, portfolio management, advisor service, manager selection and thought leadership. What will you do?
Manage the day-to-day activities of the team, including delivery of the Morning Call, Second Look, First Look, and triaging advisor inquiries. Lead a team of investment professionals and foster a collegial environment with diverse viewpoints. Oversee the Guided Portfolio solution suite, including 6 different equity models across advisory platforms. Ensure adherence to procedures in department and supervisory manuals. Contribute ideas and analysis through written comments, conference calls, and speaking engagements. Serve as a thought-leader for investment perspectives on individual securities, sector views, and portfolio positioning. Provide ideas and analysis on securities for inclusion within Guided Portfolios. Manage relationships with RBC Capital Markets Research department and develop/maintain relationships across the RBC US Wealth Management organization (compliance, legal, RBCCM, PAG-US, PAG Canada, Advisory Programs, PIT, GPAC, Wealth Management Consultants). What do you need to succeed?
Must-have Combination of MBA and CFA or possess one designation while in the process of obtaining the other. 10+ years direct industry experience in financial services with 5-7 years in portfolio management or equity research. Demonstrated investment knowledge of the capital markets and global economy. Strong understanding of the intricacies of the equity markets and equity portfolio management. Ability to collaborate with team members and build portfolios that reflect the group views and adhere to mandate. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills. Strong and visible judgement and confidence in market knowledge; ability to interact with all levels of staff and maintain relationships that support firm goals. Required Licensing: series 7, 63/65 or 66, and 24 or achieve within 180 days. Nice-to-have Ability to understand the Financial Advisor’s business and identify themes and issues affecting their business. Experience in geographically diverse teams. Experience in leading a team. International investment experience. Knowledge of analytical and market research tools (Factset, Bloomberg). What’s in it for you?
