North America Risk is a Regional Risk group that upholds the security and integrity of the payment ecosystem through the interdiction of illegal and fraudulent activity. Programs are deployed through Visa Rules and client guidelines with quality control leveraging proprietary tools, third party vendors, regional risk teams, and other stakeholders. ESI works with internal and external stakeholders to support its charter and initiatives. The person in this role will support underwriting of regional Acquirers as defined in the Visa Acceptance Risk Standards. The objective is to assess the effectiveness of controls Acquirers have in place to onboard and manage merchants active across defined, high-risk merchant activities. The person will contribute to underwriting new Acquirer applications and periodically review existing Acquirers. The role ensures related policies, procedures, and controls are executed consistently across the region by internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
Perform underwriting/assessment of the effectiveness of controls Acquirers/Third-Party Agents have in place to onboard and manage merchants covered under Visa programs (VIRP, VAMP, Fraud, Scams, Credit, Enumeration risk management, Data security, PCI DSS compliance). This may include review of Self-Assessment Questionnaires, Acquirer Policies/Procedures, sample Merchant Files, external diligence information, and payment fraud performance. Perform periodic risk-based assessments of Acquirers with ongoing monitoring Handle Acquirers and Third-Party Agents control assessments for complex clients operating across regions or across merchant activities Conduct on-site control assessments or coordinate audits through third parties Support Visa’s Close Monitoring process and coordinate risk and threat management actions for participants posing excessive risk Engage with Merchant Sales and Acceptance (MSA) and Account Executives to share intelligence, assess mitigating actions, and drive remediation accountability across functions Work with regional Visa Acceptance Risk Standards teams to perform periodic industry reviews of high-risk activities and recommend program changes to maintain effectiveness This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Qualifications
Basic qualifications: 8+ years of work experience in underwriting and client-facing roles with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 5 years with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD) Strong analytical thinking and skills with minimum 4 years of relevant experience Willing to travel up to 50% to meet clients Preferred qualifications: 9+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree Strong Visa or Payments industry experience with focus on Acquirer risk management and/or client underwriting Self-starter with ability to communicate and move forward through complexity Relationship/client management experience Knowledge or experience in audit or underwriting Stakeholder management (internal and external) Proven ability to implement strategic initiatives and operational decisions Clear record of strategic thinking, sound judgment, and problem solving in trust and security Flexible, creative thinker with strong execution skills and ability to move from high-level concepts to details Additional Information

The estimated salary range for a new hire is $127,300 to $184,950 USD per year, may include potential incentives.
