Responsibilities
Demonstrate ability to apply key legal doctrines to assist with case strategies and present those to attorney. Plan and organize litigation matters and tasks, establish chronologies and timelines for key events, interact with clients on document gathering and production, familiarize with key evidence and witnesses, present evidence in hearings and trial, and manage deadlines in cases. Assist with preparation of pleadings and discovery in federal and state court matters, and arbitration proceedings. Assist with preparation of federal and state administrative filings. Demonstrate understanding of practice group services by applying knowledge to each matter or project. Draft motions, pleadings, notices, correspondence, etc. Analyze, review, and organize documents and data from discovery; coordinate document production and responses to discovery requests. Prepare deposition and record subpoenas; coordinate production of third-party records and summarize; prepare deposition outlines and summaries. Analyze and review privileged documents. Trial and arbitration preparation; management of trial exhibits and related assistance. Present case summaries and courses of action to supervising attorneys. Conduct limited legal research (e.g., Lexis and Pacer). Cite-checking and shepardizing when necessary. Liaison with courts, opposing counsel, and litigation vendors. Demonstrate basic strategic thinking and initiative with case assignments; awareness of calendar deadlines. Responsible for personal billable time entries; address client case status inquiries. Skills and Educational Requirements
10+ years minimum litigation paralegal experience. Experience in employment law is a plus. Experience with federal and state court litigation from onset to trial; class actions and wage and hour productions a plus. Knowledge of EEOC/CCRD procedures a plus. Strong knowledge of rules and procedures in various courts and venues (Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Civil Procedure). Experience with billing hours with software programs – Intapp knowledge a plus. Experience with document management software - Netdocs knowledge a plus. Trial preparation experience preferred; proficiency in Windows environment (Word, Outlook). Excellent written and oral communication skills; highly detailed and analytical; reliable and collaborative. Proactive with strong organizational and interpersonal skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; capable of working independently and as part of a team; strong client service attitude; confidentiality and sound judgment. Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree preferred. ABA Paralegal Certificate required. For California, the expected salary range for this position is between $50.00 to $60.00 per hour.
