The Role
The Veeva PLM team is seeking a
Principal DevOps Engineer
to design and build our next-gen infrastructure on AWS. Lead the migration of our platform and create a new, scalable environment from scratch. You will have complete ownership over tooling and the CI/CD pipeline in a startup-like setting. This is a hands-on, self-starter role that balances performance, cost, and reliability.
What You’ll Do
Lead the architectural vision with deep expertise in cloud architecture, design patterns, and modern programming to build a highly scalable and reliable infrastructure. Drive DevOps best practices by implementing an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy using Terraform and Ansible to manage, deploy, and scale infrastructure. Build the CI/CD pipeline by designing and managing end-to-end workflows, automating processes for Development, QA, Stage and production deployments. Ensure platform reliability by focusing on durability, availability, performance, and correctness to minimize the risk of failures. Shape the future of the stack by recommending and implementing architectural enhancements, security policies, and new methodologies.
Requirements
Experienced DevOps professional with at least 5 years of hands-on experience, focusing on automation, tooling, and building distributed, scalable systems. AWS expertise with design and implementation of deployment architectures, including core services such as VPC, EKS, EC2, IAM, S3, and more. Containerization and orchestration experience using Kubernetes and related technologies. Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or Ansible. CI/CD and Git experience, including GitLab and tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD. Monitoring and observability knowledge, with familiarity of Grafana, Prometheus, and Elasticsearch is a plus. Location: PST or MST time zone preferred. Applicants must have unrestricted right to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not provided at this time.
Nice to Have
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Groovy. Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch). Knowledge of artifact management solutions (Nexus, ECR). Familiarity with code validation and linting tools (Sonar).

Compensation
Base pay: $150,000 - $300,000 The salary range provided complies with local regulations and represents a potential base salary for this role. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and location. Offers may include additional compensation such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
