We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to work in our Children’s Legal Services Division, a premier statewide law firm. This is an excellent opportunity to work among an elite group of dedicated legal child advocates to ensure justice for the children of Florida. Position: PARALEGAL SPECIALIST OPS - 60909801 Agency: Children and Families | Location: 19th Judicial Circuit – includes St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Indian River counties. Applicants interested in other counties/cities should apply for positions advertised for those areas on the People First System. Job Responsibilities
Entering data timely and accurately into statewide databases. Filing pleadings and other legal documents with the clerk of court. Drafting of pleadings and other legal documents. Maintaining electronic case files. Performs related work as required and assists with other office duties as needed. Minimum Requirements
Completion of a training program to become a legal assistant, a paralegal, a legal paraprofessional or a lawyer's/attorney's assistant; or a degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, legal studies or allied legal services; or an associate’s degree with a major in allied legal services; or two years of paralegal experience; or two years of experience in legal secretarial work. Preference will be given to individuals with Child Legal Services experience. Background checks: It is the policy that applicants must successfully complete State and National criminal history checks as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and may be screened as required by Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S. Background screening includes fingerprinting for state and federal checks by FDLE and FBI, and may include local checks. No applicant may begin employment until background screening results are received and approved by the Agency.
