Overview
Staff Accountant - Corporate Accounting role at Suntory Global Spirits (Beam Suntory). Location: Chicago, IL. The Staff Accountant position provides exposure to the corporate accounting function within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role is responsible for accounting tasks related to the corporate general ledger, including analytical review of accounts, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring appropriate accounting. Areas of accounting include but are not limited to incentives, insurance reserves, prepaid, and other corporate matters. Responsibilities
Corporate Accounting
Incentives & Prepaids Monitor global incentive plans\' consolidated balances Calculate and record adjustments to reflect the latest estimates Provide guidance to other functions as needed on capitalization process, procedures and policies Obtain underlying support to understand the nature of the prepaid and develop amortization schedules Reconcile related balance sheet accounts and journalize monthly entries
Defined benefit plans & Payroll
Responsible for accounting of US benefit plans Prepare and maintain account reconciliations with adequate support
Insurance, Intangibles, and Financing & Interest
Record accounting entries based on reporting from a third-party administrator Prepare and maintain account reconciliations with adequate support Review monthly amortization entries and submit related disclosure schedule
Global Reconciliation Administrator
Responsible for managing the global reconciliation system Provide system support to controllership and local administrators
Serve as the local administrator of corporate ledger account reconciliations Balance Sheet Analytics
Develop budget and forecast for account balances Perform flux analysis of account balances by comparing actual versus budget and prior periods Provide an explanation of account fluctuations to Controllership on a monthly basis Corporate General Ledger Ownership
Prepare journal entries for corporate ledger accounts assigned Prepare account reconciliations Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual schedules and reports for the consolidations group Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in accounting or related discipline One to two years of related experience Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards Knowledge of SAP and EPM reporting systems a plus CPA a plus Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role, based in Chicago, Illinois, is $62,000-$72,000, along with an annual bonus, 401K match, profit sharing, and medical and wellness benefits.
