Base pay range: $68,000.00/yr - $212,000.00/yr
Description Come join our growing North America Specialty Wholesale Healthcare Team as a multiline underwriter focused on the West! Candidate will underwrite healthcare professional & general liability policies for specialized products in senior living, hospitals, and miscellaneous medical facilities. Working within underwriting authority, the Senior Underwriter makes analytical, data-driven decisions, including risk assessment and pricing.
Responsibilities
Manages portfolio of brokers/agents and clients. Leverages market presence and knowledge to develop and underwrite profitable business, acting as a representative for Ironshore, a Liberty Mutual company. Maintains a strong market presence, including established relationships with wholesale brokers. Looks to strengthen these relationships and develop new ones. Contributes ideas for product development and participates in development and execution. Contributes to team projects (e.g., process / tool improvement). Understands the work implications of relevant legislation and regulation. Collaborates effectively across teams, stakeholders, and partners (e.g., UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America). Mentors peers and new hires. May recognize and communicate emerging trends of exposures within line of business expertise.
Qualifications
Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
A minimum of 2.5 years, typically 3 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related experience
CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred
Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility that includes competence with all phases and aspects of the underwriting process, and proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques
Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues
Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
