Overview
The Restaurant General Manager (GM) at Stirrups, the flagship fine dining steakhouse of the World Equestrian Center, serves as the visionary leader responsible for orchestrating a world-class dining experience in alignment with Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond standards. This role oversees all aspects of front-of-house operations for the restaurant and in-room dining, while supporting select activations at Emma’s Patisserie. The GM embodies the essence of luxury hospitality: delivering exceptional guest experiences, cultivating a culture of excellence, and ensuring flawless execution of operations that drive both profitability and prestige.
Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence:
Champion Forbes luxury service standards, ensuring every interaction embodies graciousness, authenticity, and intuitive hospitality.
Anticipate guest needs through preference tracking, personalization, and flawless table touches, ensuring VIPs and discerning clientele receive curated experiences.
Handle guest feedback with discretion and urgency, resolving issues seamlessly while converting challenges into loyalty-building moments.
Collaborate with culinary leadership to elevate menu storytelling, food & wine pairing rituals, and unique experiential dining activations.
Operational & Financial Leadership:
Oversee daily FOH operations, including dining room flow, in-room dining service, and event activations, ensuring consistency and elegance at every touchpoint.
Drive profitability through budgeting, forecasting, labor optimization, cost-of-sales management, and inventory control.
Develop and execute seasonal promotions, signature dinners, and experiential dining events that enhance topline revenue and brand prestige.
Maintain seamless coordination between FOH, culinary, and beverage teams to ensure excellence in timing, execution, and presentation.
Team Leadership & Culture:
Recruit, inspire, and mentor a diverse team of managers, supervisors, and service professionals who consistently deliver luxury hospitality.
Establish a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and recognition while empowering leaders to grow into future senior roles.
Develop and implement robust training programs rooted in Forbes Travel Guide’s service principles, wine stewardship, and luxury dining rituals.
Conduct daily pre-shift briefings and leadership development sessions, ensuring alignment on guest profiles, service details, and cultural expectations.
Compliance, Safety & Standards:
Uphold all health, safety, sanitation, and labor compliance standards in alignment with WEC and Columbus Hospitality Management policies.
Safeguard cash handling, POS integrity, and operational compliance with rigorous internal controls.
Ensure uniforms, grooming, and presentation standards reflect the sophistication expected of a Forbes-caliber property.
Maintain readiness for internal and external inspections, audits, and service evaluations (Forbes, AAA, Michelin inspectors).
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of progressive leadership in luxury/fine dining operations, including 3+ years in a GM role.
Experience in a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star or AAA Five-Diamond environment is highly preferred.
Strong financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, payroll management, and labor/cost controls.
Expertise in wine, spirits, and fine dining service etiquette, with the ability to guide pairings and rituals.
Demonstrated ability to curate luxury guest experiences and manage VIP-level service.
Inspirational leadership style with proven success in recruiting, training, and retaining top talent.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and POS platforms; Delphi or equivalent event management systems preferred.
Required: ServSafe Food Manager and Responsible Alcohol Service certification (or ability to obtain).
Physical & Schedule Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move swiftly for extended periods in a high-volume, luxury environment.
Must possess clear, professional communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet business and guest demands.
