Overview
CPMC-California Pacific Medical Center Van Ness is seeking an Oncology Nurse to assess, coordinate, deliver and evaluate nursing care in an acute patient setting. Provides direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care with holistic, individualized care. Develops and coordinates a plan of care incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors; collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers to promote an optimal patient experience. Adheres to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in an acute setting and deliver patient/family education. Assess, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care; develop and implement an individualized plan of care. Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communication. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulations to promote optimal patient outcomes. Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Certification & Licensure
RN - Registered Nurse for the state where care is provided BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Department Required Certification & Licensure
Oncology Nursing Certification (e.g., OCN, CPHON, CBCN, BMTCN, AOCNP) issued by ONCC, if required by department or entity, within one (1) year for RNs with one or more years of oncology practice prior to hire/transfer, or two (2) years for RNs new to oncology at the time of hire/transfer. Oncology: RN new to oncology or with less than one year of oncology experience should complete ONS Foundations of Oncology Nursing Practice within 90 days. Obtain ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card within 90 days (unless alternate timeframe determined by department or entity). Typical Experience

General knowledge of nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology. Working knowledge of healthcare industry safety policies, patient privacy, and regulatory changes. Strong written and verbal communication to explain sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences. Time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize patient care and align with policies and procedures. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite: Word and Outlook). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a changing environment; engage team members, patients, and families in stressful situations. Critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems. Protect patient PHI privacy and build collaborative relationships with peers and other providers.
