The Principal Quantum Application Engineer - Technical Communications will work closely with the Directors of Product Management and Marketing & Communications. The role leads scientific and technical writing, including drafting technical marketing and educational content and communications for general and targeted users, grant proposals and related documents, technical presentations, white papers, and product-related publications and assets across quantum computing, remote sensing, imaging, cyber security, AI, and TFLN Foundry. This role is responsible for writing technical proposals to advance technology initiatives and manage the funding application process. Responsibilities
Create and organize content from multiple contributors. Liaise across all company functions while championing user/customer needs. Draft and create technical marketing and educational content and communications for general and targeted users in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications. Create, draft, review and revise product and technology content including publications, white papers, data sheets, technical presentations, and write-ups in collaboration with Engineering, Business Development, Product and Application Teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and understand customer requirements. Write technical proposals and manage the funding application process in collaboration with Directors of Product and Business Development and Project Managers. Review and understand US Federal Government BAAs, RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and other solicitation documentation. Develop proposal contents and templates, following proposal-writing standards including readability and consistency. Participate in proposal review meetings to gather feedback and incorporate revisions to enhance proposal quality. Create and manage requirements for web development, documentation, educational materials, user support, and community engagement. Identify user needs, pain points, and behaviors to guide product design decisions. Required Skills And Experience
Master's degree required; PhD preferred in a technical field such as physics, electrical engineering, or materials science. 5-10 years minimum experience writing technical documents such as peer-reviewed white papers and grant proposals; candidates should be prepared to provide examples of technical proposals and/or papers they have authored. Good knowledge of quantum technologies, specifically quantum optics, quantum computing, photonics, and nonlinear optics. Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Excellent organization, communication and collaboration skills with the demonstrated ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams. Comfort operating in a startup environment with rapid changes and high information uncertainty. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to make informed decisions. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Comfort editing and managing technical writing and end-user documentation.
