The Senior User Experience Designer will concept UI design solutions for Surgical Robot products that align with surgeons’ and surgical staff’s expectations and abilities, with a particular emphasis on safety and ease of use. You will be responsible for maintaining and/or improving user experience, reducing usability risks for patients and surgical staff, improving usability workflows, and adhering to brand guidelines. Defining the Digital User Interface, implementing the Surgical Operating Unit’s Design system for complex medical devices in the portfolio. Participating in research activities to identify user needs/requirements and translating findings into design solutions. Participating in decision making on product features and functionality in partnership with Product Management, Engineering and Research & Technology teams. Working with agile teams to collaborate with software engineers, copywriters and UX designers. Participating in concept definition for new products and platforms using systems thinking and user-centered design methodologies. Conceptualizing and visualizing product designs and physical interactions using Figma, and mocking up digital prototypes with Figma or Principal. Creating and improving wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and effectively communicating interaction ideas using Figma, Miro and PowerPoint. Creating detailed final design documentation and supporting software engineering handoffs and design requirements within shared platforms (Jama, Jira, etc.). Developing ideas based on design thinking, user research, heuristic principles, and accessibility standards. Top 3 technical skills that are required for the role: Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; technical judgment, leadership, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a range of functions including R&D, Marketing, Engineering, and Systems. Ability to visually present, communicate, socialize and workshop design vision and research needs, concepts and detailed designs in Miro, Figma and Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with relevant quality regulations (21 CFR Part 820.30), human factors/usability engineering standards (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75), risk management (ISO 14971), and FDA guidance is a plus.
