Sr. Component Engineer, Component Resource and Electronic Design
Base pay range: $128,600.00/yr - $213,600.00/yr As a Sr. Component Engineer at LAB126, you will be at the heart of the hardware design process. You will work with a world-class team, collaborating with cross-functional groups to help bring consumer electronics products to market. Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities
Review requests for new components and ensure parts satisfy existing design requirements. Assign inventory part numbers and construct standardized descriptions for all new parts. Establish and maintain specifications for custom and off-the-shelf components. Generate specifications for new custom parts. Assist design engineers in selecting parts that best fit their requirements. Read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and component data sheets. Work within the parameters of PLM to coordinate component approval and EOL/Obsolete status. Authorize ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) written against component specifications. Interface with the ECAD team in maintaining Libraries and Databases. Coordinate failure analysis and root cause/corrective actions with internal and vendor teams; experience dealing with external labs. Value engineering (cost reduction). Work with cross-functional teams to source and suggest alternate parts (teams: SW Development, Operations Management, Materials Management, Hardware Design Engineering). Participate in product design reviews. Test plan execution and creation. Day-to-day role
As a Component Engineer in a HW Development role, you will support all phases of the hardware development process, including component selection strategies to ensure part availability throughout product development. You will balance priorities to align with customer needs, project schedules, and launch milestones. You will foster collaboration between engineering, operations, and global commodity management to ensure component choices meet design goals through production, sustaining, and obsolescence stages. You will assist in maintaining the AVL by creating Engineering Change Orders, assigning part numbers, and maintaining part descriptions. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or related field. 5+ years of experience in a similar role. Experience with components such as SoCs, chipsets, memories, PMICs, MOSFETs, diodes, resistors, inductors, capacitors, connectors, and cable assemblies. Experience with ROHS/WEEE requirements and current exemptions. Preferred Qualifications
Master's or advanced degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering. Experience with high-volume manufacturing assembly and test lines; experience with Agile PLM or equivalent product. Experience with Schematic Editor tools such as Cadence OrCAD (latest version) or equivalent. Demonstrated competence using digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, LCR meters, curve tracers, and related test equipment. Experience interfacing with contract manufacturers.
