Security Executive Council
Overview
Apache seeks a strategic thinker to lead Apache’s physical security program globally covering the United States, United Kingdom, Egypt, Suriname, and other exploration areas. The Director of Global Security will safeguard personnel, facilities, proprietary information, and operations from physical, reputational, and regulatory risks. This position will report to the Managing Director of Corporate Services. Specific Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter expert and senior advisor on all security matters. Create and maintain security strategies and policies tailored to specific operational contexts. Advise on relevant legislation, ensuring compliance with laws and standards. Oversee employee training and awareness programs. Develop an intelligence program that proactively identifies threats, social, or geopolitical developments. Prepare reports or brief senior leaders on developing risks, opportunities, or trends impacting corporate strategy, operational planning, early-warning systems, or crisis response. Continuously refine and validate intelligence sources to ensure accuracy, reliability, and relevance to operations. Develop team expertise in intelligence analysis, collection, and reporting. Lead crisis response and support business continuity planning. Build relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, peers in the industry, suppliers, and appropriate government agencies. Oversee executive protection, event security, and journey management. Oversee loss prevention and investigations. Manage daily security operations, including surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and guard forces. Evaluate and implement security technologies to improve detection and response. Manage the security budget and supplier contracts, continually optimizing resources. Oversee suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance with standards. Lead and mentor security team, fostering performance, accountability, and development. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of security leadership experience, which may include military, law enforcement, intelligence, or federal service. Experience should include command-level roles (E8–E9, O3–O4, or equivalent). At least 3–5 years of corporate security leadership experience, ideally within the energy sector, with a proven track record in optimizing budgets and supplier contracts. Backgrounds in military special operations, federal law enforcement, or diplomatic service are highly desirable. Hands-on expertise in crisis response, threat analysis, and incident management. Strong knowledge of security regulations applicable to oil and gas (e.g., DHS/TSA, OSHA, use-of-force laws). Strategic thinker and self-starter who can draft, edit, and release quality reports or presentations to the appropriate stakeholders. Integrity and professionalism to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality, accountability, and the highest standards of ethical conduct. Demonstrated communications and collaboration skills with the ability to lead others. Business acumen and expertise with tools like Microsoft Office suite. Resilient and adaptable to lead effectively in fluid, high-risk operational contexts. Cross-cultural fluency with international experience managing multi-site security programs is desirable. International deployments, multilingual in Arabic, Spanish, or Dutch a plus Travel Requirements
