Overview

Vacaville, CA/100% Remote (must live in close proximity to the Vacaville office) Required: CCIE Certification, Data Center Architecture, Palo Alto Firewalls, AWS Must Haves: Extensive hands-on experience implementing F5 WAF and load balancers. Work experience in AWS VPC, EC2, ELB, Transit Gateway Experience implementing and managing DDoS solutions with Cloudflare or Akamai Experience managing Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN

Responsibilities

Oversee planning, design, implementation, and operation of network infrastructure projects and participate in the specification of business requirements and implementation plans for technically advanced internetworking solutions. Manage implementation of network infrastructure projects from both technical and communication aspects. Review network design for security risks during projects. Serve as liaison to vendors and/or third-party providers as assigned. Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to other resources and customers. Build and document new infrastructure environments following industry best practices and internal security policies and standards. Provide infrastructure design, implementation planning, deployment support, software strategy, system troubleshooting, performance engineering and optimization, and maintenance strategy. Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentorship to State Fund internal engineering peers as required and lead technical staff responsibilities. Establish networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining/documenting/enforcing system standards. Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrading, and collaborating with the team on optimization. Secure network and server systems by establishing and enforcing policies and access controls. Provide 24/7 support and report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information. Participate in capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and network tuning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of solutions that drive business outcomes.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

Expertise with Palo Alto Network Firewall, GlobalProtect VPN, Prisma Cloud, Cisco ASA and Firepower. Expertise with F5 Load Balancers and AWS ELB. Strong OSI layer 2/3 knowledge and practical experience (STP, ARP, QoS, routing protocols). Expertise with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and multi-homing Internet circuits. Understanding of network security methodologies (ACLs, stateful firewalls, VPNs, etc.). Familiarity with network admin and monitoring tools (RANCID, OpenNMS/OPManager, Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, NetFlow, sFlow). In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Nexus switches/routers, and data center technologies. Experience with MPLS, Cisco Fabric Interconnect, Nexus 9K/VPC. Advanced knowledge of Cisco, F5, Palo Alto, Websense/Forcepoint, Juniper equipment and configurations. Hands-on experience with network automation using Ansible or Python. Deep domain expertise in networking, security, and public/private clouds.

Preferred Skills

Experience deploying and maintaining wireless networks. Extensive hands-on experience implementing F5 WAF and Cloudflare DDoS mitigation. Working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ELB, RDS, S3, Route53, VPC, CloudFormation, SSM, Transit Gateway). Experience deploying and maintaining VOIP deployments (network side, not telecom), SIP Trunking and Content Center. Project management experience.
