Overview

Specialist, Network Advocacy (Chicago or Washington DC) is a hybrid position based out of Feeding America’s Chicago or Washington DC office location. This role builds advocacy capacity and engagement opportunities to advance policy priorities and advocacy programs that empower the people we serve. Work with food bank network members, the people we serve, and the public through our digital advocacy programs. The role supports Feeding America’s advocacy program by coordinating the network and external advocacy communications to advance a policy agenda that increases private and government food and funds for members, supports federal regulations and laws that reduce domestic hunger, and positions Feeding America as the leading authority on hunger-related issues. Travel up to 20% may be required. Responsibilities

Contributes to the implementation of advocacy strategies to advance Feeding America’s public policy agenda and increase engagement of advocates. Oversees timely and effective communications to network members about key legislative and policy issues and actions, including the weekly GR update, monthly GR webinars, maintaining the GR and Advocacy team’s intranet site, and other communication needs—with support from advocacy team members and other GR staff. Oversees tracking of data around network member advocacy legislative engagement and capacity efforts, ensuring data accuracy in databases such as Quorum and Salesforce. Oversees posting of advocacy, government relations and policy content on FeedingAmerica.org and other digital advocacy channels, in collaboration with relevant teams. Oversees advocacy session development, content, and coordination for major conferences and events. Collaborates on advocacy resources and toolkits for network members and digital advocates; provides advocacy technical assistance; writes memos and reports on engagement trends. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to integrate policy positions into cross-programmatic strategies and projects. Provides counsel to VP of Advocacy and Neighbor Engagement and Director of Network Advocacy on advocacy strategies and learnings to improve the program. Required Experience and Qualifications

3+ years’ experience in issue advocacy, grassroots mobilization, external affairs or issue campaigns. Strong writing skills. Experience with CRMs (EveryAction, Salesforce, Quorum) and using social media platforms for advocacy engagement. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Required Leadership Competencies
