Overview

The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the lead enterprise technology organization for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mass Digital, within EOTSS, is expanding its engineering team to build accessible, reusable front-end components and patterns. This role is a front-end/technical-architecture leadership position focused on Salesforce-based initiatives within Mass Digital. About the role : As a Technical Architect you will provide technical leadership, support, and direction to initiatives using Salesforce. You will focus on defining technical direction, establishing engineering practices, and aligning with Commonwealth standards. Role & Responsibilities

Leading software engineering teams:

This is a senior role where you guide advanced technical concepts and mentor engineers to grow. Software engineering practice:

Define and implement processes and tooling (development workflow, coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD) to keep teams productive and deliver high-quality work. Product leadership:

Collaborate with engineers, Mass Digital product owners, and vendors’ technical leads to define and estimate work, plan implementation, and shape the technical roadmap. Technology organization alignment:

Align product direction with Mass Digital architecture and EOTSS leadership, advocating for best technical solutions and standards. First Month

You will be paired with Mass Digital’s senior technical leaders to learn practices and standards, integrate with your product engineering team, and receive guidance for success. Employment details

This is a full-time contract opportunity. The primary work location is 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST. The model is hybrid (in-office and remote as needed); reasonable requests regarding work location can usually be accommodated. Base pay range:

$115.00/hr - $125.00/hr Note:

This is a contract-based employment opportunity with EOTSS Mass Digital. Qualifications / Requirements

Significant experience with CRM platforms generally and Salesforce specifically.

Experience overseeing Salesforce-based solutions at scale for large constituents; familiarity with Sales, Service, Marketing, and Community Clouds. Hands-on Salesforce expertise:

ability to design scalable solutions, manage data, and understand data sharing/visibility; experience with platform authentication and identity providers (e.g., OAuth, SAML); manage environments (development, SIT, UAT, production) and release/code management. Experience with structured/unstructured databases.

Knowledge of SQL and related data technologies. Experience working with external vendors.

Ability to advocate for Mass Digital with vendors and internal teams, ensuring high-quality software delivery. Preferred knowledge, skills & abilities:

experience with Scrum/Agile, performance testing and tuning, and familiarity with other technologies/frameworks. Seniority level
