Some of what you'll be doing:
As the Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Fire Alarm Specialist, you will coordinate multiple capital projects with engineered infrastructure and act as the project sponsor for renewal and replacement projects to ensure adequate fire alarm infrastructure to support future growth. You will be a system owner, responsible for the fire alarm equipment and system functionality, and for providing a system that is maintainable for the airport’s maintenance team.
You will provide technical support for fire alarm and requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies or districts.
You will act as a center of expertise for the airport’s fire alarm systems and participate in risk analysis and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems.
You will conduct inventory, condition, and capacity assessment, and develop renewal and replacement projects for fire alarm systems.
You will lead the development of preventative maintenance programs for operations and maintenance of the fire alarm system. You will assist the maintenance staff with troubleshooting, restoring faults, and developing solutions to complex issues.
You will develop compliance and incident response for fire alarm and control systems and perform appropriate risk analysis.
You will develop and maintain airport standards and procedures concerning equipment, systems, and installation.
You will sponsor capital projects to support comprehensive infrastructure plans and implement design vision.
You will coordinate with planning and capital development departments to ensure program schedule aligns with the available lifecycle expectancy of systems, century agenda and sustainability goals, and regulatory and aviation growth requirements.
You will evaluate project design drawings for moderate-sized capital and expense projects for conformance to standards and specifications and coordination with other capital projects and expansion of existing infrastructure.
You will approve or deny variance requests to existing infrastructure and attend infrastructure review meetings.
You will conduct construction administration for moderate-sized capital projects including submittals, Request for Information (RFI), site observation, construction meetings, and punch walks.
Who you are: Experienced
– You have three (3) years of experience in fire alarm systems including design, modeling, construction, testing, commissioning or activation.
Desired
– We hope you have any of the following licenses/certifications: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist (CFAITMS) Professional, Certified Fire Alarm Designer (CFAD), NICET Level II Fire Alarm certification, and/or NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist.

You are knowledgeable of IBC, NEC, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, local fire codes, and industry best practices. You are also familiar with communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus.
What else you need to know: Work Schedule
– Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment
- This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Washington State Residency Requirement
– Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
Safety Requirements
– You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Security Requirements
– As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
