Overview
Seeking a BE/BC Neuro-oncologist to join the team in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois with an Academic Appointment at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I) and the Illinois College of Medicine. Academic appointment (Tenure, or Academic Research Track) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Neuro-oncologist will practice at the main campus in Urbana with 80% clinical duties at the Cancer Institute/Hospital and 20% research at the U of I (protected research time dependent on interest and experience). The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates. Responsibilities
Provide clinical care for patients with primary brain tumors and coordinate chemotherapy and biological therapies. Assist hematology/oncology physicians with management of patients receiving intrathecal chemotherapy with Ommaya reservoir. Maintain a clinical clinic with appropriate staffing and access to Infusion Rooms; participate in a multi-disciplinary setting with biweekly Brain Tumor Case Conference and strong hospital support. Collaborate with hematology/oncology and neurosurgery teams; provide clinical collaboration and back-up coverage. Engage in teaching across the educational spectrum (undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates). Pursue exceptional research opportunities and brain imaging applications, with potential involvement in MRI and molecular imaging (PET/SPECT/CT) labs to support translational or basic science research. Aim to attract intramural and extramural funding; develop hypothesis-driven research protocols; participate in start-up research support if applicable. Qualifications
Board-eligible/board-certified BE/BC Neuro-oncologist. Qualified for an academic appointment (Tenure or Academic Research Track) based on experience and qualifications. Experience in teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration is preferred. Additional context
