Humanity United is seeking a process-oriented, collaborative and high-energy Portfolio Manager (PM) to join the Forced Labor & Human Trafficking (FLHT) team. The PM will support team management, communication, program strategy, and external relations, working closely with the FLHT Senior Portfolio Director and directors. The PM contributes to building a collaborative team structure and advancing the team’s core values and mission. The PM ensures that the FLHT team operates in a clear, coordinated, and effective way across programs to support a multidimensional portfolio strategy. The role leads the creation of key organizing processes to implement the portfolio strategy and evolves the portfolio’s programmatic strategy. The PM acts as a key liaison to internal stakeholders and supports best practices and learning as HU engages in trust-based philanthropy and shifts power toward local actors in the global system. The successful candidate will be able to move between teams to build effective processes, foster a transparent team culture, help co-create decision-making processes, and solve complex problems. The role requires strong attention to detail, with a self-confident, creative, and independent approach. This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to the Senior Portfolio Director, FLHT. HU supports hybrid work with regular remote work and periodic in-person gatherings. The role can be based anywhere in the United States. Core Job Responsibilities
Forced Labor & Human Trafficking Team Management: Manage annual and multi-year budget tools and practices to support learning and emergent decision-making and operational action; lead team members through participatory budget processes; facilitate daily operations; design and evolve team processes; create communication channels for engagement with other HU departments; develop and handle core FLHT portfolio contracts; support policies, practices, and learning; collaborate with the Senior Portfolio Director on prioritization and culture; coordinate DEIJ-related learning, accountability, and consciousness-raising efforts. Strategy Design and Management: Project management of the portfolio-level strategy process; engage the portfolio in participatory practices to design and refresh strategy; lead development of deliverables and documents; ensure effective internal and external communications regarding portfolio strategy. Cross-HU and External Leadership: Support critical grantee and partner relationships; liaise with peer departments to ensure collaboration and budget information is communicated; lead portfolio-wide projects and events; maintain external relationships with peer philanthropies and networks to support transparency and collaboration; attend meetings and events to represent portfolio and organizational goals. Communication and Learning: Prepare board documents, presentations, and agendas; curate and communicate information across the portfolio; partner with Communications to create external materials, update the website, and share social media content. Starting salaries are based on job-related skills, experience, and background, with progression based on performance.
