Job Responsibilities
Provide strategic and commercially pragmatic legal and regulatory advice to senior leaders of the Card Services and Connected Commerce businesses, including Product Owners for co-brand partnerships, Card Marketing, Growth and Innovation, and Lending Innovation, on all aspects of consumer and small business lending products and features.
Support Card Services and Connected Commerce on new product offerings and initiatives; draft and approve regulatory notices and customer experiences; support multiple areas including Acquisitions, Pricing, Marketing, Risk, Product and Customer Service.
Collaborate with other legal teams and functional partners to ensure awareness and escalation of issues as they arise.
Participate in cross line of business initiatives and practice groups as a subject matter expert on laws and regulations impacting Card Services and Connected Commerce.
Identify and communicate regulatory trends and developments and advise management on impact to the Firm’s operations.
Provide legal support for Regulatory Exams and internal Audits.
Contribute to the culture and cohesiveness of the Card, Connected Commerce & Strategic Transactions Legal management team.
Some travel as required to support significant in-person meetings and maintain visibility with business clients.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
A minimum of five years of post-admission legal practicing experience
JD degree; must be in compliance with licensing requirements for the role’s location prior to employment
Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with deep understanding of consumer lending regulations, particularly credit card regulations
Prior substantive experience in financial services and/or with a consumer lending provider/issuer
Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with legal and non-legal professionals, including senior executives
Resilience, humor, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
Strategic thinking and ability to operate in a fast-paced, changing environment
Ability to understand business and partner needs across disciplines to deliver practical solutions
