Senior Process Engineer - Industrial Water

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Engineer with industrial process, application, and operations experience to join our Process & Industrial Water practice. Office locations include Minneapolis, MN; Chicago, IL; Ann Arbor, MI; Columbus, OH; Burlington, MA; New York, NY; Richmond, VA, and other locations. The candidate will support project proposal and application processes throughout the US and Canada with focus on the US North Region within markets including Manufacturing, Energy, Power, Food and Beverage, Hi-Tech, Mining, and Pharma. Your Opportunity The role is to network with engineering, environmental, water and wastewater professionals on technical project execution and business development initiatives, and to lead process evaluation and design efforts. You will evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for projects, performing tasks such as calculations, design sketches and concepts, report preparation, and field work. Projects may be broad and diverse; you will analyze proposals to ensure safety, reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Business development activities range from listening to client needs to identifying solution opportunities and planning implementation. Senior Process Engineers assist in developing detailed proposals for various project settings. Your Responsibilities

Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include participating in business line teams to manage and develop proposals. Client-facing activities for business development, meetings, and presentations. Scope of work documents and estimates. Division of responsibility (DOR) matrices. Collaboration with multiple business lines to develop opportunities. Quality reviews. Perform complex engineering design tasks on water, power and industrial process and wastewater projects in coordination with diverse technical disciplines. Tasks include design basis documents, mass and energy balance calculations, engineering drawings and reports, feasibility studies, and client/regulatory presentations. Develop designs through sketches, models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Assist project managers with scope, budget, staffing, and schedule management. Lead development and coordination of construction specifications; coordinate QA/QC on projects and facilitate independent technical reviews. Review contractor/vendor submittals for adherence to documents and standards. Involvement in permitting processes, meeting with clients, contractors and stakeholders; coordinate with regulatory review for final approval. Develop and update project design standards and guidelines; prepare abstracts and technical papers. Manage a team of design professionals and technicians; mentor staff and develop high-performing project teams. Assist with business development pursuits including proposal preparation and interviews. Interact with clients and management regarding project status (scope, schedule, budget). Lead preparation of construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Research regulatory and other drivers impacting projects; ensure timely and effective project delivery. Performs other duties of a similar nature as assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials

Ability to work well in a high-performance team environment without direct supervision. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Hard-working and positive attitude; ability to perform mass & energy balance and hydraulic calculations; assess industrial processes for core plant functions. Knowledge of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and process control narratives; translate processes into clear diagrams. Understanding of project document production, procurement procedures, and regulatory approval processes. Ability to participate in project teams and engage in creative and critical thinking; effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, vendors, and funding/regulatory agencies; deliver technical presentations. Excellent time-management and scheduling skills; budgeting and resource management. Understanding of local and regional codes and design requirements; proficient in MS Office and Adobe; experience with software such as Fathom, Arrow, ASPEN. Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within twelve months. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of total experience, with 2 years of operational experience being a plus. Licensure: PE license preferred or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months. Typical office environment with computer work; field work may involve exposure to the elements.
